Virginia Lee Phelps

	Virginia Lee (Fisher) Phelps, age 77, of Pinckneyville, died in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Skilled Care Unit on Tuesday, November 27, 2001 at 10:05 a.m.
	Virginia was born in Tamaroa on July 6, 1924, the daughter of Everett Paul and Ora Edith (Jones) Fisher.  She married Robert E. Phelps on May 26, 1940 in Perryville, Mo. and he preceded her in death on December 18, 1991.  Virginia worked as a waitress at the Chase Hotel in St. Louis, Mo. and was of the Pentecostal faith.
	Survivors include three sisters, Erma Cooper of Arena, Wisc., Barbara Lacy of Pinckneyville and Carolyn Bliss of Sapulpa, Okla.; her step-mother, Gertie Fisher of Pinckneyville; a son-in-law, James Gregory Crose of Calif. and three grandsons, Steven Crose, Douglas Crose and Gregory Crose, all of Calif.
	She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Judith Crose; a brother, James E. Fisher; two sisters, Ramona Behm and Evelyn Jenkel; a niece, April Jenkel and a nephew, J.D. Jenkel.
	Funeral services were held at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Saturday, December 1 at 11 a.m. with James Jenkel officiating.  Interment was in Mueller Hill Cemetery.
	Visitation was held on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until services at the funeral home.
	Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the J.D. Jenkel Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Murphy-Wall State Bank.
